Sydelle is an aspiring linguist, with a Bachelor's degree in Language Sciences from the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (FLUL). She is a researcher at the Psycholinguistics Laboratory at the Centro de Linguística da Universidade de Lisboa (CLUL) since 2020 where she works with Professor Alina on various projects involving derivational morphology. Her current academic interests include morphology and experimental psycholinguistics with a focus on second language acquisition.
Sydelle taught Portuguese as a Foreign Language at the Mary Immaculate Girl's High School through the Fundação Oriente in Goa until 2017. In 2019-20, she studied computational linguistics, mathematics and statistics at the Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany.
Sydelle keeps the Word Lab running. She handles admin, design, content and usability. If you have any feedback, she would be glad to hear from you. While not at the Word Lab, she volunteers at the WILL Lab (the writing center at the University of Lisbon), where tutors fellow students and works on various research projects involving English as a Foreign Langugae (EFL) and academic writing.
Apart from linguistics, language and experimental research, she enjoys visual design, grows cherry tomatoes and has a penchant for asking questions.
