Sydelle is an aspiring linguist, with a Bachelor's degree in Language Sciences from the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (FLUL). Currently, she is pursuing an M.Sc. in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition at the University of Oxford.
She is also a researcher at the Psycholinguistics Laboratory at the Centro de Linguística da Universidade de Lisboa (CLUL) since 2020 where she works with Professor Alina on various projects involving derivational morphology. Her current academic interests include morphology and experimental psycholinguistics with a focus on second language acquisition.
Sydelle taught Portuguese as a Foreign Language at the Mary Immaculate Girl's High School through the Fundação Oriente in Goa until 2017. In 2019-20, she studied computational linguistics, mathematics and statistics at the Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany under the ERASMUS+ program.
Among other things, Sydelle volunteered at the WILL Lab (the writing center at the University of Lisbon), where she tutored fellow students and worked on various research projects involving English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and academic writing. She now runs her own writing center at St. Catherine's College, University of Oxford, where she is also the Academic Officer of the Middle Common Room.
Sydelle keeps the Word Lab running. She handles admin, design, content and usability. If you have any feedback, she would be glad to hear from you!
Apart from linguistics, language and experimental research, she enjoys visual design, sewing tiny bags and has a penchant for asking questions.
